Wound Awareness
This facilitator course aims to increase awareness and understanding of wounds related to injecting drug use, with a focus on recognising signs of infection, promoting safer injecting practices, and supporting timely access to healthcare.
Course objectives:
- Have increased knowledge of the wounds people who inject drugs might experience
- Have increased confidence to deliver harm reduction information to people who use drugs
- Have increased knowledge of the factors that can influence infection
- Be able to recognise symptoms of infection and respond effectively
Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The ‘skilled’ level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support, care, or treatment.
