A Practitioners Guide to IEP
This facilitator course will enhance participants’ knowledge and confidence in delivering harm reduction strategies by exploring Injecting Equipment Provision (IEP), safer injecting practices, and associated harm reduction interventions, with a focus on reducing drug-related harms and improving health outcomes for people who inject drugs.
Course objectives:
- Have a greater understanding of injecting equipment provision and its uses
- Understand the differing types of IEP and discuss their strengths and weakness
- Discuss the arguments for and against a range of harm reduction interventions
- Identify social and physiological risks relating to drug use and to the individual using it
- Understand how to prepare a range of substances
Enhanced Level: The enhanced level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of anyone who has frequent contact with people affected by substance use. The ‘enhanced’ levels would typically apply to those in more advanced roles, such as supervisory or managerial positions.
