Harm Reduction and IEP
This facilitator course will build participants’ knowledge and confidence in delivering harm reduction strategies by exploring Injecting Equipment Provision (IEP), safer injecting practices, and associated harm reduction interventions.
Course objectives:
- Have a greater understanding of injecting equipment provision and its uses
- Understand how a range of substances may be prepared for injection
- Have increased confidence to deliver harm reduction information around injecting drug use to people who use drugs
- Understand how and why injecting related skin and soft tissue complications may occur
- Have an idea of how we can respond effectively to signs and symptoms of skin and soft tissue damage, including infection.
Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The ‘skilled’ level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support, care, or treatment.
