SUMMARY:Drug Awareness (Online SCOTLAND WIDE)
DESCRIPTION:This facilitator led course aims to increase drug awareness and knowledge and participants will have the opportunity to explore current and emerging trends within substance use. The training will consider harm reduction and support strategies.  \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\n​Identify the reasons why people use substances.\n\n\n\n\n\nName the 7 key drug categories and their key effects. \n\n\n\n\n\nRecall local current drug trends and patterns of use.\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscuss how attitudes and stigma can affect recovery.\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscuss effective strategies and treatment options to support people who use drugs\, including harm reduction.\n\n\n\n\nInformed Level: The informed level specifies the baseline practice-specific knowledge and skills every worker in the drugs and alcohol sector should be developing upon entering employment.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease do not book training on another person’s behalf\, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. DESCRIPTION:This course is only available to those living and working within Orkney If you are outwith this area please check our training calendar for other available courses. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis facilitator course will enable workers to recognise risk factors\, high risk times and support people to reduce risk of drug related death.  \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\nIdentify individual risk factors and high risk times for drug related death  \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify ways to engage and retain people in services  \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify good practice to reduce drug related death \n\n\n\n\n Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use\, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use.
