DESCRIPTION:Developed and delivered by SDF\, funded by Glasgow HSCP & ADP \n\n\n\nThis training is currently only available to those who work in Glasgow City.  If you are outwith this area please see our Training Calendar for available courses. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis facilitator led course aims to allow participants to understand how to effectively respond to and engage with individuals who use cannabis/synthetic cannabinoids  \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\nGive an overview of the current trends with cannabis including synthetic cannabinoids  \n\n\n\n\n\nRecall the main effects and side effects of cannabis  \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify the typical presenting issues for problematic cannabis use  \n\n\n\n\n\nRecall effective techniques for working with cannabis users including harm reduction  \n\n\n\n\nInformed Level:  The informed level specifies the baseline practice-specific knowledge and skills every worker in the drugs and alcohol sector should be developing upon entering employment.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease do not book training on another person’s behalf\, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. This allows the learner to track their own learning progress and receive certificates on completion of training for their CPD records.

If you are outwith this area please check our training calendar for other available courses. \n\n\n\nThis facilitator course is to support practitioners to listen and respond effectively and appropriately to children affected by parental substance use.  \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\nIdentify the impact of parental substance use on children  \n\n\n\n\n\nDescribe the child’s change cycle in parental use and recovery  \n\n\n\n\n\nPractise the assessment of risk for children affected by parental substance use  \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify ways to actively engage and hear young people’s stories \n\n\n\n\nSkilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use\, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The ‘skilled’ level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support\, care\, or treatment.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease do not book training on another person’s behalf\, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. If you are outwith this area please check our training calendar for other available courses. \n\n\n\nThis facilitator course will enable frontline workers including teachers\, youth workers\, college and university staff to respond to children and young people engaging or at risk of engaging in multiple risk behaviours. \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\nIdentify common risk behaviours displayed by young people​  \n\n\n\n\n\nRecall the factors and adverse childhood experiences that influence risk taking ​  \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify potential protective factors that reduce the impact of risk behaviours and support resilience​ \n\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate effective signposting and interventions which tackle multiple risk\, build resilience and support ​  \n\n\n\n\n Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use\, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use.
