SUMMARY:Overdose Prevention\, Intervention\, and Naloxone Training for Trainers (Online SCOTLAND WIDE)
DESCRIPTION:This facilitator course explores naloxone and its role in reducing drug-related deaths\, followed by a reflective practice session around four weeks later to support embedding learning into practice.  \n\n\n\nParticipants will gain an in-depth understanding of naloxone (injectable and intranasal)\, including its actions\, administration\, overdose response\, and basic life support.  \n\n\n\nAfter completing the training\, participants will be equipped to deliver naloxone awareness sessions and provide overdose prevention training to those at risk\, their families\, and wider services. It also supports staff to confidently supply naloxone under current legislation.  \n\n\n\nCourse objectives:   \n\n\n\n\nDescribe evidence-based overdose prevention and naloxone messages \n\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate an understanding of Scotland’s National Naloxone Programme \n\n\n\n\n\nIdentify observable signs and symptoms of a depressant overdose and advise of the appropriate response accordingly \n\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate the skills and knowledge to provide training and to supply (if applicable) take-home naloxone to people who use opioids or those likely to witness an overdose \n\n\n\n\n\nDeliver training in overdose prevention\, intervention and naloxone \n\n\n\n\n\nProvide awareness sessions to other staff on overdose prevention/naloxone \n\n\n\n\n\nBe confident and competent to supply naloxone without the need for a prescription or patient group direction in line with legislation \n\n\n\n\n Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use\, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The ‘skilled’ level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support\, care\, or treatment.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease do not book training on another person’s behalf\, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. This allows the learner to track their own learning progress and receive certificates on completion of training for their CPD records.
